Abstract

Executive Summary
The objective of this project is to conduct foundation work to understand the complex system of unrecorded/illicit alcohol use in Kenya, which in future can support the design and implementation of behavioural interventions and policies to reduce harm at the individual and population level. This is a qualitative research project that will involve separate focus group discussions with i) brewers or sellers or unrecorded alcohol, and ii) policy and advocacy stakeholders, and a systems mapping workshop involving policy and advocacy stakeholders and people with lived experience of consuming unrecorded alcohol. Funding for this project has been secured via the University College London Global Engagement Funds, to the amount of £4,998 GBP (approximately $6500 USD).
